What do we associate air conditioning with? Most often with heat, pleasant coolness in the car, summer, and holidays. Very few drivers associate it with winter operations. This is a mistake! Air conditioning should work in winter as it does in summer. Check why!

Although air conditioning in theory helps lower the temperature, its operation in winter can have a beneficial effect on both your body and the operation of your car.

How do you use air conditioning in your car in the winter?

First of all, regularly. Don’t forget about the air conditioning system and try to use its benefits whenever possible. The air conditioner should be used at least once a week for a few minutes. However, you can have it turned on all the time.

If possible, turn on closed-air circulation. This will ensure that your air conditioning does not freeze during operation (which happens during long periods of operation and low temperatures). When it comes to adjusting the temperature in the cabin, set it according to your needs. Remember, however, that even 16–17 degrees when it is cold outside will mean pleasant warmth inside the car!

Car users often wonder if the car's air conditioning is heating up. It all depends on the temperature outside the car. It is the temperature difference that will make you feel warm or cold. 16 degrees in winter and 16 degrees in summer are completely different experiences!

Why is it worth using air conditioning in the winter?

Using air conditioning in winter has a beneficial effect not only on the system itself. This way, you can influence the lubrication of mechanical components that support the air conditioning, as well as the heater . Although you slightly increase fuel consumption, the cost is not as high as any subsequent repair .

Turning on the air conditioning regularly also reduces the air humidity in the car. This, in turn, protects against the growth of fungi and causes the windows to fog faster, but it also increases driving comfort and health—for you and your co-passengers. Of course, air conditioning used in winter should not get moldy .

Turning on the air conditioning in the winter also has a positive effect on the system itself. This will not need servicing after the season; regular operation extends the life of the compressor and prevents the lubricating liquids from freezing. You will also certainly avoid clogging the ducts.

What if you don’t turn on the air conditioning in the winter?
